Spring Garden Cold Frames

Not everyone has an old shower door sitting around, but if you do, they make excellent lids for cold frames for your garden. Build a wooden box the same size as your shower door. Put your seedlings inside the box and set the shower door on top. When the weatherman tells you there will be frost at night, set the door on top of your cold frame. If you think that the sunny days will be too hot for your seedlings, set the door askew to let your cold frame vent. Don't forget to water your seedlings. The door keeps the rain out when the box is closed.
